JADE SCOTT: The Daingerfield High School golfer recently finished second in the Class 2A State Golf Tournament in Austin.
Jade Scott, fresh off a silver medalist finish at the state golf tournament, will be competing in the inaugural Tyler Rose Junior Invitational Golf Tournament May 17-18 at Eagle's Bluff Country Club in Bullard.

The Tyler Rose Junior Invitational is sponsored by SPORTyler, the Tyler Morning Telegraph and HealthFirst.

The tourney is a stop on the Texas Junior Golf Tour. More than 100 golfers are scheduled to compete.

Scott, playing for Daingerfield High School, was the runner-up in the UIL Class 2A State Golf Tournament last week in Austin. He had rounds of 72 and 71 on the Roy Kizer course.

The DHS junior has four top 10 finishes in 10 events on the TJGT, including winning the Texas High School Preview Oct. 6-7 at Ennis Country Club.

The Tyler Rose Junior Invitational is 36 holes. Golfers, both male and female, age 12-18 will be competing.

The tournament offers exemptions into the American Junior Golf Association tournaments and it is a Golfweek ranked-event.

The (TJGT) was founded in 1989 in Austin when several Austin High School golf coaches and parents realized a need for a higher level competition during the fall and winter season that would supplement high school golf along with regional PGA events and provide more national exposure to collegiate golf programs.

The TJGT started with just eight tournaments and has since expanded to include more than 40 events.

Tournaments in 1989 consisted of only local Austin/San Antonio players and have grown into some of the strongest fields in junior golf.

Players from coast to coast as well as many international countries, such as Mexico, Scotland, Venezuela, Ecuador, Canada and Korea, are now participating.
