Risk Of Heavy Rain Returns On Tuesday
The southern end of a squall line which brought killer tornadoes to Oklahoma Saturday crossed East Texas Saturday evening.
The closest these storms got to Tyler was about 50 miles north in Franklin County. A second line of strong thunderstorms formed around midnight southwest of Tyler. A brief shower fell in the city, with no measurement recorded. The nearest severe thunderstorm to Tyler in this line was about 60 miles south-southwest over Leon County. The two lines of thunderstorms preceded a strong late-season cold front, which brought a cool and breezy Mothers Day.
After a two-day respite, unsettled weather should return to the area Tuesday, perhaps remaining through the end of the week.
There is the risk for heavy rainfall, and a couple of potential opportunities for severe weather. side from some scattered high cloudiness, skies were clear in the area Sunday.
Temperatures ran about 12 degrees lower than on Saturday, and about 7 degrees below normal. Monday’s temperatures should run a degree or so warmer, with a 10-degree rise forecast or Tuesday. Low readings Sunday were from near 50 in the north to the high 60s in the south. These were up to 15 degrees lower than on Saturday morning.
Monday low readings will range from the middle 40s in the east to near 60 in the south. Tuesday morning low temperatures should be in the 60s. Afternoon temperatures Sunday were from the high 60s in the north to the middle 70s in the south up to 15 degrees below Saturday’s high readings.
