Shirley Jordan Apparent Tyler ISD Trustee Winner
Shirley Jordan appeared to emerge victorious out of the four candidates in the election for the Single Member District 4 position on the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees Saturday night.

With 100 percent of precincts counted, complete but unofficial results showed that Ms. Jordan had 87 votes, or 32.71 percent; while Dale Blackstone had 68 votes, or 25.56 percent; Tanya Roberson-Redic had 44 votes or 16.54 percent; and Cody Savell had 40 votes or 15.04 percent.

John D. Johnson III filed to run but later decided to pull out of the race. His name still appeared on the ballot, however. He won 27 votes, or 10.15 percent.

According to the school district, a candidate does not have to win by a majority vote, but rather a plurality; therefore, there will not be a runoff.
