UT Tyler Graduations Today, Saturday
Graduation lists for colleges of Business and Technology, Education and Psychology, Engineering and Computer Science and Arts and Sciences are scheduled to run in Saturday’s Tyler Paper.

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold commencement on Friday and Saturday for 714 degree candidates.

Ceremonies will be in R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. The schedule includes:

  • College of Nursing and Health Sciences, 3 p.m. today;

  • College of Business and Technology, 10 a.m. Saturday;

  • Colleges of Education and Psychology and Engineering and Computer Science, 1 p.m. Saturday;

  • College of Arts and Sciences, 4 p.m. Saturday.

  • Dr. Paul McGaha, a regional director for Health Service of the Texas Department of State Health Services, will speak at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences ceremony. He is a clinical associate professor in the occupational medicine department at UT Health Science Center at Tyler and a pharmacist.

    Phil Hurley, president and general manager of CBS Channel 19, will speak at the College of Business and Technology ceremony. He organized Max Media of Texas, building a CBS station, KYTX.

    Richard Anderson, principal engineer with Somat Engin-eering, will speak at the ceremony for the colleges of Education and Psychology and Engineering and Computer Science. He is a civil engineer and chaired the national committee for the Civil Engineering Body of Knowledge, addressing civil engineering education.

    Susan Saurage-Altenloh, governor of the 10th District of the American Advertising Feder-ation, will speak at the College of Arts and Sciences ceremony. She is president of Saurage Research in Houston.

    Her firm has won awards for its creative approaches to securing information for marketing and planning.

    President Rodney Mabry will certify candidates. Presentation of candidates will be made by deans: Dr. Alisa White, Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jim Tarter, Business and Technology; Dr. William Geiger, Education and Psychology; Dr. James Nelson, Engineering and Computer Science; and Dr. Linda Klotz, Nursing and Health Sciences.

    Alumni representative Janet Drake Fair will give alumni association presentations.
