Temperature Could Get Up To 90 Friday
Temperatures will approach the 90-degree mark in the area on Friday, as Thursday’s pleasant conditions give way to a couple of days of very warm temperatures. If 90 degrees is reached, it would be just about on time. The median date for the beginning of the warm season (the first high of 90 degrees or above) is May 8. Friday is the 9th.
A new storm system should bring the warm temperatures to an end Saturday night, promising another round of perhaps severe thunderstorms.
A cold front entered the region overnight, and had reached Lufkin by 6 a.m. on its southeastward passage. Thursday’s temperatures ran about 3 degrees lower than Wednesday’s, and were near normal.
Temperatures on Friday should run about 6 degrees warmer, with Saturday’s temperatures near Friday’s.
Low readings Thursday morning were up to 10 degrees lower than on Wednesday, and were from the middle 50s in the north to the middle 60s in the south. Low temperatures Friday and Saturday morning should be in the 60s, with slightly higher readings likely for Saturday.
Afternoon high temperatures Thursday were near Wednesday’s, running from the middle 70s to lower 80s. High readings Friday should be from the high 80s to lower 90s. High temperatures Saturday may run a few degrees lower behind a weak cold front. This is due through Friday night, and will have no associated precipitation.
Thursday’s average relative humidity was 68 percent, with lower values likely Friday, and higher values Saturday.
