Daughter Charged As Adult In Mother's Murder
By MALENA OGLES Staff Writer CANTON — A 16-year-old girl accused of shooting her mother to death with while she lay in bed will be charged as an adult, according to records from the Van Zandt County District Attorney’s Office.

Brooklyn Kay Fincher, now 17, was booked into the Van Zandt County Jail last week on charges of capital murder.

The body of Pamela K. Fincher, Brooklyn’s mother, was discovered in her Wills Point home in the Rolling Rock subdivision by family members on Nov. 15, 2007. She had been shot several times with a deer rifle.

The next day, Ms. Fincher and her 19-year-old boyfriend were detained at Wills Point High School after they were seen driving the pickup truck

authorities believe was taken from Mrs. Fincher’s home after her murder.

Originally, both teens were charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds and capital murder, but Van Zandt County Sheriff’ Pat Burnett said charges against Fincher’s boyfriend were later dropped when they found out Ms. Fincher picked him up in the truck.

Ms. Fincher appeared in a Van Zandt County courtroom May 2 for a hearing that certified the 17-year-old as an adult.

Ms. Fincher is scheduled to appear before a Van Zandt County grand jury next week to see if she will be indicted.

She is currently being held in the Van Zandt County Jail on $150,000 bond.
