Man Found Dead in Smith County Ditch Identified
Smith County Sheriff’s Office today identified the body found Tuesday in a ditch along County Road 113 in the southern part of the county.
Sgt. Randy Meadows confirmed that Monty Russell Smith, 46, of Tyler was the man found by a man riding a tractor Tuesday night.
Meadows said authorities believe that Smith did not die at the location he was found. Meadows said there was no visible trauma to Smith’s body and that an autopsy is being conducted.
Detectives are following leads, he said.
