East Texans Eliminated At UIL State Tennis Championships

AUSTIN — The area was shut out at the UIL state tennis championships Tuesday.
AUSTIN — The area was shut out at the UIL state tennis championships Tuesday.
All three semifinal matches in which the area was represented ended in defeat.
In 3A boys singles, Matthew Ribeiro of Van fell in the semis to Silsbee’s Matthew Deaver, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
Deaver went on to fall in the final to Vernon’s Nick Lehman, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
In 3A mixed doubles, Christopher Lee and Kacy Aldredge of Spring Hill suffered a 6-1, 6-0 defeat to Abilene Wylie’s Lindsey Bloomer and Doug Kierstead. The Wylie tandem then captured the state championship, 6-4, 6-3, against Argyle’s Mary Bowman and Eric Katzen.
In 2A girls doubles, Grand Saline’s Macy McMakin and Samantha Treder fell in three sets to Mason’s Chelsea Price and Skyler Wooten, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
Denay Baxter and Samantha Lange defeated Price and Wooten in an all-Mason final, 6-1, 6-2.
Brittni Fausett, a former Winona state champion now playing for Cameron Yoe, fell in the semis of 3A girls.
