Early Voting Deadline Hits

Early voting ended Tuesday in the May 10 municipal election.

Tyler mayoral candidates are Laura Corbett, Barbara Bass and Keith Pyron. District 6 candidates are Charles Alworth and Larry Meckley.

Residents also voted on a proposal to allow: "The legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only," in an election that will decide the fate of the "private club" system of serving alcoholic beverages.

Running for TISD District 4 are Cody Savell, Dale Blackstone, Tonya Roberson-Redic, and Shirley Jordan. John D. Johnson III has dropped out, although his name is still on the ballot.

Place 9 is contested on the Tyler Junior College Board. Candidates are Melinda Coker, Rohn Boone and Steven Sherwood. Residents in the TJC taxing district can vote.

On the Winona ISD Board, Tim Thompson and Randy Hawkins are vying for Place 3; Bubba Bixler and Tony Mathis are running for Place 4.

On Winona City Council, the four running for three seats are Pat Schlau, Michael Jones, Bob Davis and Tommy Brock.

Whitehouse mayoral candidates are Jeremy McEuen and Danny Hodgen.

Running for Place 3 on Troup ISD Board are Keith Lindsey and Kevin Martin.

Tuesday saw 706 voters heading to the polls, bringing the early voting total to 2,256.
