UT Tyler Golfer Brian Jennings Earns NCAA Bid
UT Tyler junior Brian Jennings, who was a prep star at Bullard High School, has qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s National Golf Championship, the NCAA committee announced Monday from Indianapolis.
Jennings will now travel to Braselton, Ga., where he will compete at the Chateau Elan Resort on May 13-16.
The event is hosted by Emory University and the Gwinnett Sports Commission. Jennings received just one of five individual bids into the National Championship.
Joining Jennings, who played at McLennan Community College before transferring to UT Tyler, are Max Bonk, Pacific (Oregon); Josh Cumming, Greensboro; Joe Kiss, Olivet; and Tyler Wollberg, Carthage.
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, champions of the American Southwest Conference, earned the automatic bid.
In Division I, SMU, Lamar, Texas A&M, TCU, UT Arlington, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Texas all received bids to regionals in the NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament.
