May 6: Passing The Buck
RANT: I was very unhappy to see the poor math scores in the Tyler Independent School District. I am no expert at math and do not have the credentials of all the "experts." However, it seems like there is always some kind of excuse.
The school district has had "math experts" for years and Ms. Tunnell has been there about five years or so I was told. So, she has had plenty of time to get things going in the right direction.
It was interesting to read her comments in articles that Tyler Paper published.
Now, she wants to drown the poor, overworked teachers in even more staff development that will not work.
I have a number of friends who are teachers and they simply cannot take any more staff development, new ideas, new programs and wasted money.
One of my neighbors teaches fifth grade and she is devastated over the test scores.
I'll be watching for more articles and comments by the "experts," because it makes for interesting reading.
