Metroplex Team Wins Azalea Invite

AND THE WINNERS ARE ... Mark Rogala of McKinney (left) and Jeff Lee of Plano captured the championship of the 24th Annual Azalea Invitational Golf Tournament Sunday at Hollytree Country Club.
After finishing second two years ago, Mark Rogala and Jeff Lee were aiming for the top spot this year in the 24th Annual Azalea Invitational Golf Tournament.
The Metroplex pair accomplished their mission by capturing the tourney with an 18-under score of 198 to take the title by one stroke Sunday at Hollytree Country Club.
Rogala, of McKinney, and Lee, of Plano, had rounds of 63, 68 and 67.
Placing second was the team of Tyler’s Darin Newhouse and Conroe’s Scott Loving, who had a sizzling final round of 9-under 63 for a three-round score of 199 (68-68-63).
Placing third was the team of Tyler’s Reggie Howell and Longview’s Eric Joseph (67-69-66—202).
Also, for the first time, a Seniors Division (age 50 and over) champion was awarded. Another Metroplex team of Dallas’ Bob Packer and Heath’s Gene Aube took home that award with a 204 (67-69-68).
