May 4: Commendation For Phil Hicks
ROSES: Please allow me to commend Sports Writer Phil Hicks. I was certainly impressed with his sincerity, politeness, and humble approach while covering the Toyota Texas Bass Classic Pro-Am event at Lake Fork recently.
I was on the winning team and was interviewed by Mr. Hicks.
Things were quite hectic for a few moments following the photographs and interviews by the Professional Angler’s Association reporters.
Mr. Hicks began interviewing me immediately after the photographs, but was somewhat rudely interrupted by one of these PAA reporters who seemed in quite a hurry to complete his assignment. Despite my insistence to continue our interview, Mr. Hicks politely stepped back to allow the PAA reporters to ask me a few quick questions. As soon as that was finished, Mr. Hicks came back to continue his interview
Mr. Hicks was sincere with his questions, and accurately reflected my quote/comments to the effect of “...being blessed by the good Lord....” I was pleasantly surprised this praise, along with my other comments, was actually included in his article in your newspaper.
It seems as though giving public acknowledgement to our Lord, Jesus Christ, is not as “politically correct” as in times past, but I thank you, the Tyler Morning Telegraph management staff, and especially Mr. Hicks for helping to make this a special experience in my life, and for allowing my comments to be presented accurately.
May God’s blessings continue to be with you always.
