May 4: Celebrate All Faiths
RESPONSE: I read the Tyler Paper very carefully. I have never seen a letter written denigrating or otherwise saying disparaging things about any Protestant denomination by a Catholic Christian. Wonder why that is? I'll tell you why, and that is because we are taught not to denigrate other people's religion.
We all worship the same Jesus and the Holy Trinity. We are all embarked upon that journey that we pray will carry us to the far side of the Jordan River.
Ms. Wright does not reflect on what denomination she belongs to so she has some advantage over me; however, having been a Presbyterian, Baptist, and Methodist and Episcopalian I can speak with some authority on at least some of the 26,000 Protestant denominations. I determined in 1985, along with my wife that the Roman Catholic Church was for us so we became very committed converts to the faith.
It appears that Ms. Wright does not like the Pope. He is one of the most learned men regarding theology than anyone on earth including Protestant and Catholic.
Just do a Google search on his life. In regards to the sawdust in his brother's eye I do believe you, Ms. Wright, have got it a bit twisted. He was not disparaging anyone except those who had sinned against the church and how it hurt him and reiterated that the church was doing everything it could to wipe out this blemish upon our great church. He was admitting to a plank in our eye, so to speak, and never referred to anyone else with sawdust in theirs.
I pray for your enlightenment, Ms. Wright. Have you ever visited a Catholic Church? I would be most pleased to invite you to Mass of your choosing and even give you a lift. Give the editor a call and I will give him permission for you to contact me.
