'Power Of 10' Initiative New For This Year's Komen Race
In honor of the 10th anniversary, Susan G. Komen Tyler Race for the Cure is launching the "Power of 10" initiative, highlighting the impact that each individual can make by donating just $10, and then encouraging 10 or more people to do the same.
Asking 10 of friends or family members for $10 each will make a tremendous difference for the men and women of our community who are affected by breast cancer, officials said.
The Komen Tyler Power of 10 donation program is as follows: Participants register for the Race, ask 10 friends to donate $10, then ask those people to ask 10 friends to donate $10.
If everyone who was asked donated $10, many lives could potentially be saved, officials noted.
If 5,000 race participants successfully raised $10 from 10 friends, Komen Tyler Race for the Cure would have an additional $500,000 to expand programs in the area.
Individuals who raise at least $100 in donations will be entered into a drawing for prizes including gift certificates for entertainment, restaurants services and retail shops. The person who raises the most money in pledge donations will receive a round-trip ticket on American Airlines or American Eagle to any destination in the contiguous United States.
