Loos To Address Native Plant Society Monday
Peter Loos, owner of Ecovirons located in Chireno, will give a slide presentation on "Plants of the Big Thicket" at the May meeting of the Tyler Chapter of the Native Plant Society, NPS spokesperson Liz Soutendijk said.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Fairwood United Methodist Church, 1712 Old Omen Road, Tyler.

"Loos' professional experiences in various fields of the horticulture industry, as well as his master's degree from SFASU, have greatly contributed to his extensive knowledge of Gulf Coast native plants and related ecological issues as well as his unyielding promotion of bio-diversity throughout our environment," she said.

Loos has worked in the nursery and landscaping trade in this area for more than 25 years and is currently focusing on wetland mitigation and restoration. He is presently serving on The Cullowhee Native Plant Gardening Conference Steering Committee and the SFASU Mast Arboretum and Pineywoods Native Plant Center Advisory Board, Ms. Soutendijk said.

"He maintains his love of sharing native plants with others through various speaking engagements ...," she said.

The programs are free and open to the public. For information, contact Marjorie Sherrod, vice president-membership, at 903-939-2227.
