Texas East Gymnastics Team Feels The Magic At Walt Disney World
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Texas East Gymnastics team competed in the Magical Classic Gymnastics Meet near Walt Disney World recently.

Athletes from all over the United States as well as Canada and Mexico competed.

The TEG girls flipped and tumbled to numerous first-place finishes as well as other awards, said coach Martin Parsley.

The Level 7 team claimed first place. Out of the eight team members there were six gold medal finishes.

Both Sarah Shaffer and Angela Rogers won their all arounds, while Drew Watson and Savannah Maradiaga both took silver in their all arounds.

Kortlyn Hill took second place on vault with a 9.65 and Sarah Dorsey claimed third place on the beam with a 9.325. Hannah Jacobsen also performed a first-time, personal best by completing a floor routine with all three tumbling passes and scoring an 8.825.

In Level 10 competition, Morgan Key captured first place on the bars (9.275) and the floor exercise (9.125), while Denaya Moore performed a Yurchenko Layout Half on the vault for the first time in competition and claimed second place with a score of 9.675.

The Level 9 team of Ciara Maradiaga, Erin Odom and Emily Rickman brought home gold, silver and bronze.

Odom won gold on the vault (9.35) and silver on the floor (9.25) and the all around. Maradiaga placed first on the bars with a 9.375. Rickman placed first on the bars and beam, and third on the floor.

The Level 8 squad finished fourth in the team rankings. Team members include Apryl Hansen, Cori Roach, Amanda Hamilton and Haven Hughes.

Hughes led the team with first-place finishes on bars, floor and the all around. Hamilton and Hansen also helped the team their fourth-place finishes in all around and high rankings on vault, bars and floor. Roach participated in the team score with her floor finish of fourth place and had a personal best on beam by completing her flight combination for the first time.

The trip was complete with a visit to Disney World's Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
