NEWS ALERT: Murder Suspect Commits Suicide; Girlfriend Arrested

Police have located the body of Brandon Wayne Robertson, 37 of who was wanted in the Wednesday night killing of a state trooper.
Robertson was found dead from a self-inflicted gun wound off of County Road 1347 near Morris Lake in Cass County at around 5 p.m. today.

A capital murder warrant was issued for Robertson, a former Rusk County Sheriff’s deputy, in the shooting death of Texas Department of Public Safety trooper James Scott Burns, 39, of Linden during a high speed chase Tuesday night.
Authorities had tracked Robertson through information gained from calls he made to a local 911 center, as well as through investigative tactics and many calls to a tip line that had been set up to give a $30,000 reward.

Jennifer Lynne Petrick
Police said Robertson’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Jennifer Lynne Petrick was taken into custody at the scene for allegedly aiding Robertson. Criminal charges are pending against Petrick, who will be booked into the Cass County Jail.
