April 29: Ready To Serve
RAVE: March was National MR Awareness Month, where our nation recognized developmentally disabled individuals and those who serve them in our communities and beyond. As a facility serving this special population, Breckenridge Village of Tyler would like to thank the individuals, schools and businesses that not only served on our campus during this special month but helped us create awareness throughout our East Texas community of the mentally challenged.

For investing their time in helping with "spring cleaning" on our campus, we recognize and greatly appreciate the senior class of the Brook Hill School, students from Jacksonville College and the Aviator Middle School Choir of Green Acres Baptist Church. With smiles on their faces and hearts ready to serve, they cheerfully washed windows, pulled weeds and spread mulch throughout flowerbeds under the direction of volunteer Master Gardener Kathy Moore. However, these students did not stop there. They took time getting to know the BVT residents. From playing games to reading books to sharing meals together, students and residents alike were blessed because of their time together. Hats off, too, to our faithful auxiliary and volunteer lawn crew who played a huge role in making this "spring cleaning" a success.

Thanks to Dr. David Dykes and Mike Parks of Green Acres Baptist Church for spotlighting BVT the first Sunday of March in the morning worship services. What a great time it was to inform the GABC members of the Breckenridge ministry. It also served as an opportunity for BVT to share its sincere thanks for all GABC has done over the years to bless and benefit the Village. Thank you, also, to Richie Huvall of GABC for capturing the heart and vision of BVT and communicating it so effectively in video form. What an amazing job!

We appreciate McAlister's Deli for donating their tips earned throughout March to BVT.

And finally, our sincere thanks to all the businesses that allowed VT donations can.

A big thank you to each person who opened their heart and placed money in those cans. Because of their generosity, funds were raised to benefit the special individuals who attend the BVT day program as well as those who call Breckenridge Village their home.
