Warmer Weather, Storms Ahead For East Texas
Monday was unseasonably cool in East Texas, with a warming trend forecast to begin Tuesday ahead of the next storm system due Friday.

Temperatures on Monday ran about 11 degrees below normal, and were near Sunday’ levels. Tuesday’s temperatures should run about 5 degrees warmer, with readings returning to near normal values on Wednesday.

Other than a few high clouds Monday morning, skies were clear. Low temperatures were from the high 30s in the north to the high 40s in the south. These were about 10 degrees lower than on Sunday.

Low temperatures Tuesday morning should be slightly higher than on Monday, wit readings warming by about 10 degrees Wednesday morning.

Under full sun, afternoon high readings were in the lower to middle 70s about 10 degrees higher than on Sunday. High readings Tuesday should warm about 5 degrees, with highs on Wednesday in the 80s.

Winds were northwesterly to westerly at 5-10 mph on Monday. Winds will go into the south by Tuesday morning, and increase to 10-15 mph by Tuesday afternoon. Tyler’s highest sustaining wind Monday was northwesterly at 13 mph with a peak gust of 16 mph and an average velocity of 3.2 mph. Sunday’s average wind velocity was 9.5 mph.

Rather windy conditions are forecast for Thursday as the Friday storm system approaches.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible from late-afternoon Thursday into Friday morning.
