April 27: Still A Sore Spot
RESPONSE: After reading the article, U.S. Pilgrimage, on the Pope's visit, (Friday, April 18) I can't express my disgust enough for "His Holiness."
First of all, with the priest pedophilia scandal still very much a sore spot here in America, after being swept under the rug the way it was, he seems to think since it was a while back that he can now parade into the U.S. with all pomp, apologize politely and that removes the "stain" from our minds.
Next he proceeds to make "an effort to touch consciences" concerning the nation's "unfulfilled opportunities." He doesn't miss an opportunity though, does he? And what about his conscience? Then goes on to say we have a "growing forgetfulness of God." Thursday's mass he spoke of being worried about divisions among Catholics, saying "many are not following church teachings." You think not?
Here's a few words from church teachings he might think about: "why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" I suspect he's never read that since it's in the Bible.
