April 27: Unwanted Sign
RANT: Rants to the Barbara Bass mayoral campaign for placing a large poster in our yard last weekend without our knowledge or permission. Wishing to have it removed, I first tried to contact the candidate. The only phone number under her name yielded a recorded message from her place of business.
I then tried to locate the number for the man whose name and address appeared in small letters at the bottom her sign. There was no such matching name and address in the phone book.
Later that day we received a phone message from a man asking for our support for Barbara Bass. Using the information from the caller ID, I tried to reach someone at that number but was met with yet another recorded message for a business.
I found the presence of the unwanted sign disconcerting, but the inability to contact someone within the campaign to request its removal was even more disturbing.
I hope politicians and their organizations will keep this in mind in the future. In the meantime, the ill-fated sign has left our property in the company of the Tuesday morning trash collection.
