Barbara Bass Rally Tuesday
The Barbara Bass for Mayor campaign will hold an Old Fashioned political rally and hot dog picnic 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey Convention Center, 1998 W. Front St.

The cost is a $3 donation per person or $5 per couple. For tickets, call 903-570-0380.

Ms. Bass faces Laura Corbett and Keith Pyron in the May 10 election for Tyler mayor.


Flynn Named To Tax Committee
State Rep. Dan Flynn, R-Van, has been named by House Speaker Tom Craddick to the Select Committee on Property Tax Relief and Appraisal Reform.

"Rep. Flynn has demonstrated a solid commitment to lessening the tax burden for property owners," Craddick said. "His addition to the committee will enhance its ability to produce a result beneficial to taxpayers in House District 2 and the state of Texas."

The committee will review state law and the Texas Constitution and make a report to the House before the next legislative session begins in January.


Fair Tax Day Slated May 13
The Tyler Young Republican club will host a forum on the Fair Tax (a national sales tax) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the Smith County GOP Headquarters, 3923 S. Broadway Ave. The featured speaker will be Sean Healy.
