Tyler Campus Notepad

Birdwell
Birdwell Elementary will have a Cinco de Mayo Carnival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The event is sponsored by the Birdwell PTA and will include games and Mexican food.

There will be activities for children of all ages.


Camp Tyler
The 10th annual Dixie Dulcimer Festival will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Camp Tyler.

About 125 elementary-age dulcimer players will attend from at least three different schools. Four guest teachers will conduct dulcimer workshops for all the students. A pizza lunch will be followed by a guest teacher concert.


Owens
Owens Elementary School will have "Cowpoke Day" from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Fourth-grade students will celebrate the history of the cattle industry in Texas.

Students will see a demonstration of cattle ranching in the past and present, go to the chuck wagon to eat lunch and dress the part to compete for the title of "Most Authentic Cowboy and Cowgirl."


Woods
Andy Woods Elementary School will have its kindergarten roundup at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the library.

Prospective kindergarten students and their parents are invited to receive information about kindergarten, to meet the teachers and tour the campus.


Dogan
The Dogan Middle School PTA Beautification Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.


John Tyler
John Tyler High School will offer a community meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the John Tyler Theater to discuss the proposed voluntary withdrawal of the school from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in the next school year.

John Tyler Principal Vanessa Choice will provide information and answer questions.


All Saints
The Stanford Achievement Test will be administered to students in grades one through six at All Saints Episcopal School Monday through Friday.

The Primer class at All Saints will take a field trip to Brookshire's Museum Wednes-day.


Gorman
A blood drive will take place Monday on campus at Bishop T.K. Gorman Catholic School. Stewart Regional Blood Center will be on campus.

The fifth six weeks middle school honors convocation at Gorman will take place at 8:15 a.m. Friday in the Haddad Gym.

The First Friday Eucharistic Adoration will take place Friday in the Gorman chapel.

The TAPPS State Track Meet will take place Friday and Saturday in Waco, and the PSIA State Meet will happen Saturday in Fort Worth.


Grace
Grace Community School elementary students will take achievement tests Monday through Thursday, while the seniors will visit Sky Ranch in Cave Springs at Quapaw, Okla., this week. Seniors leave Monday morning and return Friday.

The Grace high school orchestra will perform at the elementary chapel at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Also Tuesday, the eighth-grade class will visit the Smith County Courthouse for "Law Day."

From 8 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the Grace Juni-or/Senior Prom will take place at the Tyler Rose Garden Center.


Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone/C. Brown Middle School will have karate and gymnastics pictures taken starting at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the gym.

Karate students need to wear their Karate Gi and gymnastics students need to wear their Stepping Stone T-shirt with denim shorts.


Tyler ISD
Tyler ISD will have Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) testing Monday through Friday.
