Youth Announcements, April 20

Girl Scouts Celebrate Heroes
In recognition of their hard work as leaders and mentors, April 22 marks Girl Scout Leader's Day, which honors them for their committed partnership with girls.

As a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Co-Leader, Assistant Leader or Advisor, each adult plays an integral part in helping every girl strive for courage and confidence, and instills in them the character they need to make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Leader's Day began more than 25 years ago, when a flag honoring Girl Scout leaders flew over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Since Leader's Day began in 1982, thousands of adult volunteers have been recognized by Girl Scouts, their families and communities. These hometown heroes help make the Girl Scouting experience possible for the thousands of girls who participate in Girl Scout programs.

In honor of Girl Scout Leader's Day and on behalf of Girl Scouts across Texas, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas would like to thank every Girl Scout Volunteer for all they do for today's girl.

Learning For Life
A Learning For Life Leadership workshop for high school students is set April 26 at Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler, sponsored by the East Texas Area Council.

The skills course will be led by local community leaders and include instruction in personal skills such as time management and communication; cultural diversity skills such as beliefs and values; group skills such as team building and managing through others; character attributes through leadership; and planning.

Attendees are responsible for a $30 fee, which includes workshop materials, lunch and snacks through the daylong event, set from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 3030 Copeland Road.
