Gala Group Hosts Truck Giveaway
The 2008 Tyler Cattle Barons' Gala committee will host a special event to display a one-of-a-kind, fully loaded truck, to be given away at this year's Gala, committee spokesperson Terri Good said.

The event, to be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Hall Buick Pontiac GMC, also will feature free hot dogs and drinks and "Soap Stars," local celebrities washing cars to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

"The Tyler Cattle Barons' Gala is marking 21 years of working together to fight cancer and save lives," Mrs. Good said. "Since its beginning, the Tyler Gala has raised over $6.5 million for life-saving research, patient services in our community, advocacy and preventative education."

To celebrate 21 years of raising money to fight cancer, the 2008 Gala theme is "21 Gun Salute - Shootin' for the Cure."

The Hall family has seen the effects of cancer first-hand. Pam Hall, owner of Hall Buick Pontiac GMC, lost her mother and five of her aunts and uncles to cancer.

"That is why Hall Buick Pontiac GMC is generously providing a truck for this Gala chance drawing," Mrs. Good said.

The winner will drive home in a Special Cattle Barons' Edition 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab SLE. The fire-red truck includes a custom leather interior, donated by Mark Faries Top & Trim, special Cattle Barons' emblems and pinstriping, a custom Billet Grille and Chrome Assist Steps, donated by Woody's Truck Accessories, 20-inch aluminum wheels, Z60 high performance suspension, OnStar, XM Radio, a HD trailering package, auto climate control, remote start, a cargo management system and more.

In honor of the Gala's 21st anniversary, only 521 chance drawing tickets will be sold. Tickets are $100, and they are available at Hall Buick Pontiac GMC on Loop 323 in Tyler and at the American Cancer Society office on South Broadway Avenue.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the Gala on June 7. The winner does need not be present to win.

All proceeds from the chance drawing go to the ACS.

For more information, contact the ACS office at 903-597-1348 or visit the Web site at www.cattlebaronsgala.net.

The 2008 Tyler Cattle Barons' Gala is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, at the Threlkeld Farm in Flint.
