The Brook Hill School Strives for Academic Excellence
As the Brook Hill School wraps up its eleventh year of education, the school continues to be encouraged by God’s faithfulness. What began as one man’s vision to follow the call of God to start a Christ-centered, college preparatory school in East Texas has become a reality. The school is thriving. Brook Hill currently has 510 students excelling academically in an environment that is truly designed to challenge their potential and encourage them to honor God through Christ-like character.

As Brook Hill moves into the next stage in the life of the school, it is strategically positioned to offer this high quality education to more students, enhance and expand the current programs, and complete its master building plan. Now that the first decade is under its belt, the school is moving into a decade of maturity - a time for refining and polishing programs in order to insure continued excellence in every area of the school.

An important step in this maturing process is an administrative change that will enable the school to solidify its academic program. Beginning in the 2008-09 school year, Connie Russell, currently the Secondary Principal, will move to Director of Academics. In her new role she will specifically focus on PreK-12th grade curriculum, both content and pedagogy. She will be responsible for researching, evaluating, and implementing curriculum.

Taking over the role of Secondary Principal will be Shawn Rhoads, currently Director of Campus Life. Mr. Rhoads will continue to oversee Campus Life, but as Principal he will assume more responsibility in the area of school culture and will be directly responsible for managing and overseeing the upper and middle school. Mr. Rhoads is the right person for this job because of his management skills, his relational skills, his communication skills, and his ability to build, impact, and influence culture for Christ and His kingdom.

Bill Seronello, Lower School Principal, will continue to lead the Lower School while partnering with Mrs. Russell in her role as Director of Academics. These two educational leaders will work together for the purpose of growing and developing the Lower School curriculum.

Mrs. Russell, Mr. Seronello, and Mr. Rhoads are extremely excited about the new direction of their roles and the opportunity they have to serve God at Brook Hill in new ways.

Planning for the future is important for any organization, and Brook Hill is no exception. As the school enters into its second decade, the Brook Hill School is implementing strategies to insure successful maturity, building upon the past while looking to the future.
