Around East Texas, April 12
Marvin United Methodist church, 300 W. Erwin St., will feature works by composer Ralph Vaughan Williams during the Marvin Concert Series at 7 p.m. April 20.

The Marvin Concert Choir with professional orchestra will perform "Five Mystical Songs," featuring New York City baritone Keith Harris and "Te Deum," a new work by composer Mark Hayes.

The program will also include music written for men's chorus, said information at marvinumc.com.

The event is free and required tickets can be had by contacting the Marvin Welcome Center at 903-592-7386.

OTHER EVENTS

  • Westwood-Queen Street Baptist Church, 820 NNW Loop 323, will hold a "homecoming reunion celebration" at 9:30 a.m. April 20.

  • The Teens Sunday School Class at New Life Baptist Church, 3575 County Road 384, will hold their annual Garage Sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Christ Episcopal Church, 118 S. Bois d'Arc Ave., will hold a groundbreaking during its morning worship service Sunday to begin construction of the new Grelling-Spence building.

  • New Covenant Church, 714 Shelley Drive will hold a "Couple's Conference" via satellite with Dr. Gary Smalley from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, April 26. The cost of the event is $39 per person and includes lunch and child care. A mandatory registration must be made by calling (903) 534-9333.

  • Mount Sylvan Baptist Church, 13073 Texas Highway 110 (Van Highway), will present Gerald Williams and the Melody Boys Quartet at 6 p.m. Sunday.

  • "You are invited to come hear some good Southern Gospel singing with old-fashioned harmony," said information from Mount Sylvan Baptist. The event is free, but a love offering will be taken. Call 903-330-0646 for information.
