UT System Approves Center's Name Change
University of Texas System board of regents took final steps this week to approve the addition of "science" to the name of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.
The name has been unofficially used since about December 2007.
The addition of "science" makes UTHSCT's name consistent with other UT science centers in Houston and San Antonio. It represents a milestone for the facility as a top-notch academic medical center, said President Dr. Kirk Calhoun.
UTHSCT grants degrees through its Family Medicine Residency Program, Occupational Residency Program and two master's degree programs in conjunction with Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
