Marvin Church Event Offering Tips For Living A Better Life
Recognizing and mastering some of life's common struggles is the focus of "First Steps," sponsored by Marvin United Methodist Church Single Adults, to be held 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 5, at Marvin Church.

The event, designed to offer practical tips for living a better, more effective life, is open to any interested adult in Tyler, including Marvin Church members. Membership at Marvin is not a requirement for attending the programs, which include breakfast and lunch, event spokesperson Betty Bower said.

Registration for the "First Steps" is open through Friday, April 4, by calling 903-592-7396; or, those interested may do late registration the morning of the event in the Elm Street atrium of Marvin Church.

Late registration may not include lunch.

Courses available include:

  • "Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Balance in Life," Laurie Frank, licensed social worker and therapist.

  • "Effective Discipline for Your Children," Dr. Ron Roberts, licensed therapist/psychotherapist.

  • "Committing to a Whole Relationship with more than Half a Mind," the Rev. Richard Luna, Methodist minister/Pollard UMC/ licensed therapist.

  • "Effective Financial Planning," Jennifer Sampson, Smith Barney, second vice president/wealth management and financial planning specialist.

  • "Introduction to Divorce Recovery," beginning of a six-week course offered at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, John Hopkins, licensed therapist/experienced facilitator for divorce recovery.
