Running
On Saturday morning, runners will once again converge on Tyler to partake in its annual Azalea 10K run.

The run will begin at 8 a.m. at Bergfeld Park.
Registration is available at www.tylerazalea10k.com, and late registration will begin at 6:30 the morning of the event.

Runs available include the 10K, a 2-mile run/walk and a kid's 50-yard dash. There will be an awards ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. following the race.
For those who pre-register, the price of the race will be $25. Those who register the morning of the event will be charged $30. The 2-mile run/walk will cost $15 for adults, children 12-under participating in either race will cost $10 and the 50-yard dash will be free for all participants.
Also, this year's race will use chip timing, featuring the latest chip timing system, IPICO.
Chips will be attached to each runner's shoes and runners will receive loaner chips the morning of the race.
Pre-registers can pick up packets March 27 or 28 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at Racquet and Jog on South Broadway in Tyler or at Tyler's in Dallas, located at 5710 W. Lovers Lane.
The Tyler Azalea 10K benefits the Children's Village, which provides 24-hour, long term residential foster care for more than 220 boys and girls from the Tyler area.

The John Tyler baseball and softball teams both return to the diamonds Friday in search of their first district wins against Mesquite.

JT plays host to Mesquite in baseball action. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Mike Carter Field.
The JT softball team plays at Mesquite, with the opening throw set for a 5 p.m. start.
The Lions (1-10, 0-1) lost to Robert E. Lee 10-0 on Tuesday in the District 12-5A opener. The Skeeters (7-7-1, 1-0) are coming off a 7-5 win over Mesquite Horn.
The Lady Lions (2-8-1, 0-3) fell to Longview 12-0 on Tuesday, the same night the Lady Skeeters (15-7, 2-1) earned a 9-0 win over Robert E. Lee.
Mesquite is one of four teams tied for first at 2-1 along with Longview, Mesquite Horn and North Mesquite.

TC meets Langston on Friday in a doubleheader slated for a 1 p.m. start. TC and Bacone play twice on Saturday in Muskogee, Okla. beginning at 1 p.m.
The Lady Steers are coming off a trip to the Houston area where they took on Division I schools Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M. Both TC and Langston bring 1-5 conference marks into their affair.

Lee defeated John Tyler 10-0 in five innings Tuesday while North Mesquite was outslugged 9-8 in Longview.
The Red Raiders are tied for first place in District 12-5A, along with Longview and Mesquite.

Lee (1-2) is in fifth place as there is a four-way tie for first with North Mesquite, Mesquite, Longview and Mesquite Horn all sporting a 2-1 record. North Mesquite suffered its first district setback, 9-4, Tuesday against Mesquite Horn.

The Tyler Rams, a Pop Warner football and cheerleading club, is having early registration on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Tyler Athletics, located at 5201 S. Broadway Suite 154.

Regular registration fees are $50 for flag football (ages 5-7), $75 for tackle football (ages 7-12) and $75 for cheerleading (ages 5-15).
The club is offering a $10 early signup discount off of the above prices and payment plans.
The football fees include all equipment and uniform usage.
The cheerleading fees include uniform usage, shoes, socks, etc.
Parents are requested to bring their child's original birth certificate.

AUSTIN - The Texas Football Spring Jamboree orange-white game is scheduled for Saturday at Darrell K. Royal-Memorial Stadium.
The game will be at noon (gates open at 11 a.m.), and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net Southwest.
The jamboree will also feature a fan fest in lot 70 (10 a.m.), located south of Mike A. Myers Stadium. The first 3,000 fans get a free mini-football courtesy of Time Warner Cable.
A concert featuring Aunty E will be held at lot 70 between 10:30-11:30 a.m. An autograph session with Aunty E will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Admission to the jamboree is free.
