FATAL SHOOTING: Family members gather at the scene to comfort each other after a man was found shot to death in Tyler on Thursday.
A Dallas man was found shot in the back at 1705 Lenora Ave. in Tyler on Thursday afternoon, police told the Tyler Paper.
Police received a call at 1:34 p.m. from a woman stating that her nephew had been shot and was dead inside the residence. Officers found a man in the den area of the residence - identified as Gerald DePaul Little, 37, of Dallas - with a gunshot wound to his upper right back.
Investigators located a gun inside the residence, according to a Tyler Police statement, and are continuing to interview possible witnesses who may have knowledge of what occurred.

Lenora Avenue dead-ends into Boulter Middle School in Tyler. Angela Jenkins, communications director for Tyler ISD, said the information she received from TISD Police, which is in contact with Tyler Police, was that at about 1:45 p.m. a shooting occurred in the neighborhood surrounding Boulter Middle School and that initial information indicated it appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"The school was not placed on lockdown," Ms. Jenkins said, noting, however, that precautionary measures were taken, including the notification of administration and moving the campus officer to the front of the school.
Tyler police now believe foul play could have been involved.
Ms. Jenkins said Thursday afternoon that Tyler ISD received no new information on that situation.
