Eight Chambers To Participate In Chamber Day At Airport
Chambers from across East Texas will arrive Thursday at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, some of them before dawn, to set up for the second Chamber Day at the airport.
Henry Bell III, Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce chief operations officer, said eight chambers have responded to an invitation to set up booths at the Tyler terminal.
"The chambers that are coming to exhibit will be there basically all day," Bell said, adding some indicated they wanted to be set up when the first flights go out, about 7 a.m.
Chambers of commerce from Bullard, Canton, Cedar Creek Lake, Lindale, Nacogdoches, Quitman, Rusk and Gladewater indicated they would participate.
Bell said the event helps to build up the airport.
"We want the chambers to come in and bring their volunteers and their leadership to see our airport and get excited about the fact that we have the quality airport that we do have," he said. "They may make decisions and encourage their members to use our airport instead of sending them to Dallas or Shreveport."
Bell said Chamber Day also gives the chambers a platform from which to inform airport visitors of their communities for the purpose of keeping business in the region.
The event will end about 7 p.m. after Business After Hours, a social and networking event the chamber conducts nearly every month that brings together area business people for snacks and refreshments.
Business After Hours will start about 5 p.m. Traditions is the food sponsor.
This will be the second Chamber Day. The first one was in the fall of 2006, Bell said.
