New Descriptions on Suspicious Van, Occupants
Additional information is available this afternoon on a suspicious vehicle and persons being sought by Tyler Police.
Officers responded to Andy Woods Elementary School, 809 Clyde Street, Tuesday at 11:09 a.m. on a suspicious person/vehicle call. Police interviewed an 11-year-old girl who told officers that she was walking to school when she was followed by an older white van, occupied by a Hispanic male driver and black male passenger, according to Donald Martin, Tyler Police spokesman.
The driver asked the girl several times if she wanted a ride to school as she walked down the street, according to a Tyler Police statement. She ignored the driver’s request and started to run to the school. The van then turned around as it got closer to the school and has not been seen since, according to Martin.
New today, police said the Hispanic male is described to be in his 30s, wearing a diamond earring in left ear and a large black tattoo on left forearm.
The black male passenger was wearing a University of Texas ballcap, orange on the back and sides, and the front was white, police said.
The van was white with a small black pinstripe down the sides, a dent in the driver’s door, and rust on the bumper, according to Martin. It resembles a day care van, he said.
Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this incident is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers, at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).
