March 25: Offensive Quote
RANT: In reading the paper on Sunday March 23, "Sheriff's Shelter." I was very offended about a remark Sheriff J.B. Smith made. And I quote him as saying, "Overseeing inmates and dogs isn't a hard stretch. They're not all that different."
Mr. Smith, are you calling the inmates dogs? The inmates made mistakes, but they are not dogs. Maybe you didn't mean it to sound like that but it sure did sound like it to me.
I had a son incarcerated in Smith County for a year, but Mr. Smith, he is not a dog.
We are all God's children and no one is better than anyone else.
