March 25: Obey Traffic Laws
RESPONSE: As far as a light at U.S. Hwy. 271 and Loop 323, give us a break, we have enough traffic lights around the city now. There is a turning lane to get onto 271 north. If everyone in East Texas would just slow down and pay attention, this would cut down on deaths and accidents.
I was at Troup and the loop Saturday where I saw an ambulance heading north on Troup toward the loop, when it tried to turn left on the loop, two cars came though the green light because they had it, and the ambulance had to wait.
Now, I ask everyone, how would you feel if your loved one died because the ambulance had to wait for these self centered people to go first?
Let's all just try to obey the traffic laws.
Last but now least: In Sunday's newspaper, the headline is "Sheriff's Shelter."

I did not know our sheriff had a shelter. I though Smith County had one. The sheriff's comment that "inmates are like dogs" really show his mentality.
I just hope the shelter becomes a place where animals have a chance to be adopted not euthanized in 72 hours.
