JACKSONVILLE - Robert E. Lee's boys' golf team claimed its third second-place tournament finish at The Woods at Jacksonville Saturday.

Led by Trey Brooks, who claimed third-place medalist honors by shooting 78-70-148, the Red Raiders combined for a two-day total 621. Brooks finished six shots out of first place behind Lufkin's Michael Haney (75-67-142) and five strokes behind Lufkin's Will Griffin (74-69-143).

Also contributing to Lee's team effort was: Daniel Webb (76-77-153); Peyton McDonough (79-82-161); Greyden Blevens shot (81-81-162); and Will DeShazo shot (85-79-164).

Lee followed a first-round 314 with a 307, but the better play wasn't enough to keep pace with Lufkin. The Panthers shot a blistering 303-288-590 to win by 31 strokes. Lufkin's 'B' team finished in third place at 635, and Jacksonville was fourth at 644, led by David Warren (74-78-152).

Henderson finished sixth at 683, led by Hunter Skelton (81-82-163); Whitehouse was seventh at 710 and was paced by Jordan Wright (84-84-168); and All Saints was eighth at 767, led by Bryson Hancock's 84-96-180.

John Tyler finished 12th at 883, led by Ross Jacobs' 90-81-171.

Also during the tournament, Lufkin Hudson's Clayton Worley hit a hole-in-one on No. 8 Saturday.
