TJC Hosts Technical Career Fair
Tyler Junior College will host a Technical Career Fair, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday on the TJC West Campus, 1530 SSW Loop 323.
The fair will provide the opportunity for prospective students of all ages to learn about one-year certificates and two-year degree programs that can result in immediate employment in a technical career field.
Guests will have the opportunity to visit with instructors and department chairs of various technical programs in the TJC School of Applied Studies, such as auto technology, air conditioning and refrigeration, computer gaming and simulation, computer networking, engineering design technology, graphic arts/photography, medical office management, PC support specialist. surveying and mapping technology and welding technology.
Guests may also register to win door prizes, including TJC beach towels, rolled blankets, fleece blankets, T-shirts, umbrellas, selected tools from MATCO, NAPA and Snap-on, and a $500 tuition discount scholarship good for the fall 2008 semester.
Snacks will be provided and demonstrations from various departments will be offered. Guests may also tour the new Luminant Academy.
"We will showcase our many career programs from the School of Applied Studies and describe to those interested how we can help them achieve a certificate or degree that can lead to a rewarding career," said Craig Turnage, director of enrollment management.
