Feb. 27: Bigger Government is Not the Answer
I have been reading letters to the editor, and I have literally felt nauseated. There are so many people who are so misled by what is happening in this political race. I don't even begin to believe I have all the answers, but our candidates are taking us for a merry ride.
Since when can you believe all that you hear from a political candidate and/or the news media?
We need to check out their voting records and determine if they are reliable. I read the letter from D. L. Forde on Feb. 20, and I ditto his message. I was really disappointed in Dr. Gary Gross's letter of Feb. 23. He is a brilliant doctor, but I think he misplaced that knowledge somewhere if he is calling in support of Obama.
I can't believe he (a member of the medical profession) wants socialized medicine. (I am a retired RN.) The managed health care system we have now is a fiasco, and it will only get worse.
My grandson waited in the ER for eight hours for a surgeon when his doctor had already made the arrangements for him to go to the hospital for surgery. He had a ruptured appendix with gangrene. If we get socialized medicine, he would have died. One of my daughters had a stroke. She had great doctors in the hospital, but they could not follow her care after she was dismissed, so she had to be referred to four new specialists after dismissal.
How would you like having a doctor for the hospital who never sees you again? Your doctor doesn't even see you while you are in the hospital in many instances. He gets a report instead. You think health care for everybody is going to improve this? Where do you think the money is coming from? If you are employed or retired with any income, you will pay for everyone else, illegals included. Then you will not have any buying power.
I am not a prejudiced person, but our government can't even keep up with the American citizens, much less those who are illegal. Illegals need to follow the laws to become citizens. (Have you read the article "What if 20 Million Illegals left America?" I have the article; it is very informative and surprising.)
My brother had to file for disability, which took four years to get approved. He had no income and could not work. When he had to go to a clinic, he was told the Social Security system is backed up at least two years. He had to go before a judge to determine if he was qualified for disability. The doctor's orders did not help any. The judge denied. What kind of a system is that when the judge knows more than the doctor or the employer? There is not enough help to handle the needs. Some clinics in his area have been closed due to lack of funds and/or qualified help.
People, we are in real trouble. Our government is too involved in our lives and wants to be more involved with more control under the guise of helping everyone. We can't help everyone while we are helping so many other countries, as well as the millions of illegals in our country. We need to be helping each other, not expecting the government to pay for all we need.
Obama is not a demigod. He can not pull this country together. Only God can do that, and we are ashamed to keep "In God We Trust" on the front of our new dollar coin. It is now located on the edge in very small print. You have to look for it. God said that whoever was ashamed of Him or denied Him, He would deny them also.
George Bush wanted to pull this country together also, but no one wants to compromise. Has that changed? We already spend plenty of money on education, but how is it spent? Money is not the problem with education, but how it is managed may be. Yes, our value system is pitiful, but are we going to help it by electing a president who supports abortion? We have killed so many babies already, no wonder kids put no value on life. We apparently don't.
I don't have all the answers, but it is not in bigger government. Why should we trust a candidate who used the Koran to be sworn into the office of Senator? Why has he refused to pledge allegiance to our flag in the past? It seems very convenient to me that he can now acknowledge our flag when it helps him gain votes. He is a charismatic person, but he is not God and can't bring about all that he says he can without destroying this country. I believe we had all better pray a lot for discernment before we cast our votes in the presidential election as well as our candidates for other positions.
