Arp Teen Injured In Wreck
A blue pickup plowed into a saltwater truck traveling from Overton to Arp on Wednesday evening, shutting down traffic on Farm-to-Market Road 850 for hours.
Arp, Chapel Hill and Overton volunteer fire departments responded to the crash at approximately 5:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found 16-year-old Joseph McGlaun, of Arp, pinned inside his Chevrolet Silverado.
According to a report by Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Barry Goines, McGlaun was traveling westbound on FM 850 and the Basic Energy saltwater truck was traveling eastbound.
Goines said the pickup went into a curve and hit the saltwater truck in the eastbound lane.
Marilynn Wilson, intermediate emergency medical technician with Arp Volunteer Fire Department, said it took firefighters more than 20 minutes to extract the teen from the wrecked truck.
"He was conscious when we were getting him out," she said.
McGlaun was airlifted to Mother Frances Hospital for treatment. The driver of the saltwater truck was uninjured.
