Detectives executing an arrest warrant out of Wood County Monday located a working meth lab inside a Hickory Hills Subdivision home.
Van Zandt County Sheriff Pat Burnett said narcotics officers already had 35-year-old Larry Dewayne Lewis in their scope when they were told by the Wood County Sheriff's Department that Lewis was wanted on multiple outstanding felony warrants for methamphetamines.
Van Zandt County narcotics officers arrested Lewis without problems at about 4:30 p.m. at his residence in the 100 block of Maple Drive.
"Narcotics had probable cause to search the home and obtained a warrant from Judge Teresa Drum to enter the home," Burnett said.
Inside the home, deputies found chemicals and other items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
"It was right on the Henderson, Van Zandt County line so he was probably selling to both counties," Burnett said.
Henderson County Sheriff's narcotics investigators were called to the scene to assist in the disposal of the chemicals found in the lab.
"We have a good working relationship with our neighboring county," Burnett said.
Monday's bust was the second in three days for Van Zandt narcotics investigators. Last Friday two men were arrested at their home in the Calander Lake area.
Lewis was the only one home at the time and Burnett added he was the only person of interest in the investigation.
Lewis was transported to the Van Zandt County Detention Facility where he was charged with one count of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance in Van Zandt County, and a second count of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance out of Wood County. He was also charged with failure to appear and three counts of assault causing bodily injury/family violence from warrants out of Wood County.
Lewis remains in jail with bonds totaling $221,000.
