Callie Faul, 12, hands off her homemade Valentines to KVNE radio host Jennifer Winborn on Friday. The nonprofit radio station was broadcasting live from The Scroll.
Hundreds of Valentine cards for sick kids were dropped off at The Scroll Christian Bookstore on Friday morning, at KVNE's Valentines for Kids giveaway.

The nonprofit Contemporary Christian radio station that broadcasts at 88.5 FM will distribute the homemade cards on Valentines Day to kids in hospitals and clinics throughout the county.

Radio Hosts Jennifer Winborn, Tricia Anderson and Mike Harper chatted with families and collected cards created by concerned kids wanting to cheer up other children.

Lauryn Fletcher, 11, works on a card at the Valentines For Kids day at The Scroll Christian Bookstore.
"It's just our way of caring for people in our community," said Mrs. Winborn. "Valentines Day isn't a huge holiday, but maybe all of us can make it special for someone who really needs it."

The KVNE motto is "The Voice of Encouragement."

Cards can still be dropped until off Tuesday at The Scroll at 2552 E. Fifth St., Lifeway Bookstores at 3500 S. Broadway Ave. or the KVNE/KGLY studios at 2721 E. Erwin St. Call KVNE at (903) 593-5863 for information.
