UPDATE: Lockdown in Winona Schools Cancelled
WINONA — A lockdown at the Winona School District has been cancelled after a man talked to authorities.
The man originally was said to have made hand gestures at his estranged wife, who works for the school, and school officials took precautionary measures.
Smith County Constable John Smith said no threats were made to the school or to the woman.
“He just got out of his vehicle and made some gestures at her, but nothing indicating any type of threat,” he said. “He just wanted his driver license so he could cash his paycheck.”
Smith said he spoke to the man at his office who explained he had filed for divorce and was just having a disagreement with his wife.
Smith said the man has not made any verbal threats to the woman today or in recent past.
“They’re just going through a divorce and there’s really nothing to this other than the gestures,” he said.
