Sports Clinic For Disabled Vets
Frank Miller, 50, an Army veteran in Tyler, is drawing attention to the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic to take place March 30-April 5 in Snowmass, Colo.
The clinic offers veterans with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic amputations or visual impairments competition in skiing and other events.
It is sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Disabled American Veterans, with financial assistance from corporate sponsors and donors.
Miller, who had his left leg removed below the knee, participates on a team from West Palm Beach, Fla., where he has received treatment at a VA medical clinic.
Miller said donations to his team can be made to Winter Sports Clinic, Veterans Administration, 7305 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Fla., 33410, attention Doug Tuttle.
Camp Tyler Foundation
Camp Tyler Foundation needs volunteers to help with planning, and businesses and organizations to participate in upcoming Earth Day East Texas activities at Camp Tyler.

Soup Drives
East Texas Food Bank is teaming with Albertsons for the "Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive." To participate, go to an Albertson's grocery store in Tyler or Longview and purchase a pre-filled bag of groceries for $8 and leave it in the donation bin.
The bags, stocked with chili, peanut butter, fruit cocktail, pinto beans, rice, macaroni and cheese, cereal and soup will be donated to the food bank.
Through Feb. 15, Chick-fil-A restaurants in Tyler, Longview and Lufkin will donate soup to the Salvation Army for every soup order placed.
PATH is also asking groups to collect soup to be delivered to the PATH food pantry, 402 W. Front St., this week.
CASA Training
Court Appointed Special Advocates of East Texas will hold training sessions for volunteers from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Feb. 11-13 and Feb. 18 at 318 E. Fifth St., Tyler. Keep Children Off Of Drugs
Sister Cities Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will sponsor a program that uses drug testing as part of an effort to keep kids off drugs.
The free "Project 7th Grade" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the cafeteria at John Tyler High School and in Spanish at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the school, announced SCCADA.

Chili Fundraiser
Tyler Salvation Army's Chili Bowl and auction fundraiser will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in the Life Center at First Christian Church, 4202 S. Broadway Ave. Sheriff J.B. Red Cross Classes
The Red Cross, 320 Rieck Road, will hold the BLS/Health Care Provider Training class (CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Certification renewal classes for BLS/Health Care Provider training (Adult CPR/AED with Infant & Child CPR for the Professional Rescuer) will be held every Thursday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
