Man Turns Violent During Custody Dispute
An argument over child custody turned violent Monday afternoon when a Tyler man fired several shots at his ex-wife.
Police said a 44-year-old man fired shots at his ex-wife from an unknown caliber handgun during a child custody exchange in the 2500 block of Robertson Road just before 3 p.m., according to a report by the Tyler Police Department.
No one was injured during the shooting and police said the suspect fled the scene before they arrived.
Tyler Police Department officers located him at his home in the 3500 block of Briarose Lane. Officers surrounded the residence and after a short negotiation the man walked out of his house and surrendered to police.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a deadly weapon. He is currently held in the Smith County Jail. His bail has not been set.
