Jacksonville Pulls Away Late

The Jacksonville Indians hit just eight shots from the floor in the first half but found a rhythm in the third quarter to down Mabank, 65-48.
Jay Jimenez and Demarcus Session scored 12 points apiece and Donovan Bridgeforth added 11 as Jacksonville (12-4) advanced in the winner's bracket Thursday. The Indians, which hit just 8-of-24 shots from the floor in the first half, hit just less than 50 percent in the game (25-of-51).
Mabank (10-5) almost erased a four-point deficit in the opening minutes of the third quarter, cutting the lead to one, but an 18-2 run to end the period doomed the Panthers.
For Mabank, Kolton Browning had 19 points and Albin Gashi added 12 in the loss.
Session and Kevin Hall gave the Indians a decisive advantage under the basket, combining for 15 of Jacksonville's 34 rebounds.
Lindale 55, Kilgore 37
It took the Eagles a while to get warmed up, but Lindale broke open a tied game in the third quarter and didn't look back.
Behind 12 points from Cedric Jones, Lindale outscored Kilgore 16-7 in both quarters of the second half to advance to play Jacksonville in the second round of the Wagstaff Holiday Classic.
Post Drake Bickham kept Kilgore in the game, notching 18 points and 10 rebounds but he got little help outside of Corwin Rowlett's 10 points.
Bullard 56, Henderon 51
The Panthers finally broke up a deadlock between Bullard and Henderson with a strong finish.
Bullard used seven fourth-quarter points by Daniel Howard and five more from Austin Camp to edge the Lions in the final game of Day 1 at the Wagstaff Holiday Classic.
Tied at 33-33 entering the fourth, Bullard used its outside shooting to take control.
Henderson's Hunter Skelton was fouled on a 3-pointer and converted two of his free throws to give the Lions a tenuous 35-33 advantage. Bullard answered with an 8-0 run on treys by Lance Anding and Austin Camp, followed by another basket from Camp.
Bullard never trailed after this. Henderson cut its deficit to three points late in the game on two free throws from Russell Wylie. That made the score 49-46 with 1:25 remaining. Bullard held on after that using three points from Andrew Barron and two free throws by Howard to complete the win.
