Whitehouse, Arp, Tatum Favorites In Wagstaff Classic
The Whitehouse Wildcats bring their No. 8 Class 4A state ranking into the Floyd Wagstaff Holiday Basketball Classic.

The annual event gets under way Thursday at Wagstaff Gymnasium on the campus of Tyler Junior College.

The Wildcats meet San Antonio Alamo Heights during the first day at 7 p.m.

Things get under way at 9 a.m. with Grace Community taking on Lakeside, La.

That's the first of three straight games involving Tyler TAPPS schools.

Game two has All Saints meeting Tatum (No. 20 in 2A) at 10:30 a.m., followed by the T.K. Gorman taking on Van at noon.

At 1:30 p.m., the Class 2A No. 5-ranked Arp Tigers tangle with Canton.

The first four games are teams battling for the Apache Bracket Championship. The final is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Gold Bracket Championship involve teams playing in the final four games of the day. The Gold Bracket final is slated for 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jacksonville and Mabank play at 3 p.m., followed by a break in action. During the break, the gym will be cleared for the evening session.

Lindale and Kilgore meet at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Whitehouse-Alamo Heights contest.

Bullard and Henderson finish the day with an 8:30 p.m. contest.

The tourney continues on Friday and Saturday.

Lindale defeated Whitehouse in the championship game last year. Jacob Holmen scored 14 points for Lindale, but now plays for Whitehouse.
