Military News
DEPLOYED

Army Sgt. Teddy Lee Engelhardt Jr. of Baytown was deployed in October to Iraq where he serves as a driver of a Humvee.

He served in the Marine Corps from 1994-99. He attended paramedic school in Baytown and has worked with the Houston Fire Department as a paramedic for three years. He is the son of Teddy Engelhardt of Huntsville and Alecia L. Engelhardt of Tyler. Grandparents are Bill and Joyce Marshall of Tyler. His sister, Christina, and nieces Bryanna and Savannah live in Jacksonville.


GRADUATED

Army Reserve Pvt. Josh E. Martin and Army Reserve Pfc. Joshua Williams have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and una-rmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Martin is the son of Ricky Martin, Canton, and JoAnn Hales, Fairfield.

He is a 2007 graduate of Fairfield High School.

Williams is the son of Donna Gantt, Tyler.

The private is a 2003 graduate of Chapel Hill High School.

Air Force Airmen Robert M. Burnham and Taylor F. Tracy graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exe-rcises and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree thr-ough the Comm-unity College of the Air Force.

Burnham ear-ned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Bruce and Machelle Burnham, Tyler.

The airman is a 2007 graduate of Winona High School.

Tracy is the son of Don and Terry Tracy, Lindale.

Army Pfc. Ernest L. Villarreal has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history, core values and traditions.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Noe and Inez Cedillo, Tyler.

Villarreal is a 2003 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School.
