GTAR Honors 2 Top Realtors
Chuck Gregory, of Chuck Gregory Realty in Tyler, received the Glover Tunnell Award for Excellence, one of the two top honors bestowed by the Greater Tyler Association of Realtors, at GTAR's annual Christmas party Thursday at Hollytree Country Club.

Pam Swanner, of Coldwell Banker United in Mount Vernon, received the other top honor, GTAR's Realtor of the Year Award.

GTAR created the Tunnell award in 1994 to honor members who made an outstanding contribution to the real estate industry, especially in the local community. It was named after Glover Tunnell to honor his leadership and contributions to the real estate industry.

Tunnell was GTAR's first president in 1945, and he was president of the Texas Association of Realtors in 1956.

Gregory has been active on the national, state and local association levels, GTAR officials said. He has attended National Association of Realtors conventions, TAR Mid-Winter meetings and conventions for many years.

He has served on the state Professional Standards Com-mittee for more than five years and is a trained mediator. Gregory has been an active promoter of the National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics, serving on state and local tribunals and training other members on ethical business practices. A member of GTAR since 1982, Gregory has served on the Professional Standards and Budget & Finance committees as a member and as a chairman. He also served on the Political Affairs and Community Service committees.

Gregory served as a GTAR director from 1993 through 1995, and he served in all officer positions, ascending to the president's position in 1999. He is serving a three-year term as a TAR director.

Gregory received the Realtor of the Year Award in 2001.

Realtor Of The Year

Ms. Swanner is a native of Scroggins and began her real estate career in 1981, GTAR officials said. She has been involved in the realtor association from the beginning of her career, holding several positions with the Titus-Camp-Morris-Upshur Association of Realtors and GTAR.

She served as president of TCMU Association before changing her primary membership to GTAR.

The Realtor of the Year Award is given to recognize and reward an association member for his or her work and effort on behalf of fellow realtors during the preceding 12 months.

Ms. Swanner served on the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee of GTAR for the past three years and organized the Wood County TREPAC Auction in 2006, which raised more than twice the amount ever raised at the annual auction.

In 2007, she spearheaded the Wood County Scholarship program that culminated in awarding six college scholarships to seniors in five Wood County high schools. She researched contacts for the high schools, delivered applications and attended award ceremonies.

Ms. Swanner has served on the board of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. She has been a top producer for years in her office and within her franchise, having been selected to join Coldwell Banker International President's Circle.

She holds the Graduate of Realtors Institute, Certified Residential Specialist, Accredited Buyer's Agent, Certified Home Marketing Specialist and Quality Service Certified professional designations.

Also Thursday, GTAR installed its 2008 officers and directors.

Officers are: Jason Wright, Century 21 First Group, president; Ann Fitzgerald, Ben Fitzgerald Realty, president-elect; William "Bill" Pillsbury, Pillsbury Group GMAC, vice president; Jonathan Wolf, RE/MAX Tyler, secretary; and Pam Evans, Bergfeld Realty, treasurer.
