Williams To Speak At UT Tyler Graduation Ceremony
The University of Texas at Tyler will recognize 653 candidates during commencement ceremonies in R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.
Former Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams will deliver the address for the College of Business and Technology at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Cynthia Stevens Kent, judge of the 114th District Court in Smith County, will speak to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences commencement at 3 p.m. Friday.
Dr. Teresa Kennedy, deputy director of NASA's GLOBE program, will address the Colleges of Education and Psychology and Engineering and Computer Science, at 1 p.m. Saturday. She is an affiliate assistant professor of foreign language/bilingual education at the University of Idaho.
James Pace, UT Tyler professor of art, will address the College of Arts and Sciences at 4 p.m. Saturday. Pace has had numerous exhibitions. He has been the UT Tyler Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Excellence in Teaching nominee and has received the Chancellor's Council Teaching Award.
UT Tyler President Rodney Mabry will speak and certify candidates. Candidates will be presented by deans: Dr. Alisa White, Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jim Tarter, Business and Technology; Dr. William Geiger, Education and Psychology; Dr. James Nelson, Engineering and Computer Science; and Dr. Linda Klotz, Nursing and Health Sciences.
